Gibbous Moon in Taurus: Resistance

Welcome to 2023! We entered the New Year in the Gregorian calendar with Venus conjunct Pluto, which tells me we’ll be exploring Venusian things–relationships, creativity, what we value–in intense ways.

This intensification of creativity and values will be reflected in Saturn’s entry into Pisces in early March, shifting into a more fluid way of looking at structure.

Venus’ long sojourn in Leo, with a retrograde, will also focus our attention on personal creative expression.

For today, we enter the Gibbous phase with a Taurus Moon (27º12’) drawing our attention to Venus (29º44’) and Pluto (27º43’) in Capricorn. This is a very stable, grounded Earth trine and also bring into focus our Gibbous challenge.

We’ve been fired up about the future, ready to move forward. We’ve explored some deep territory. We feel we’re ready for the Full Moon illumination–except, maybe not.

The Moon in Taurus loves comfort and dislikes change. We may find ourselves wondering if this change process is really a good idea.

Maybe things are fine as they are. Or, if they are not fine, maybe changing would be worse.

Mercury, retrograde at 22º24’ Capricorn sextiles Neptune at 22º54’ Pisces. It might feel more comfortable right now to dream, imagine, romanticize, or even catastrophize than actually do something.

During these days leading up to the Full Moon, we’ll want to balance self care and comfort, with the calls to change we’re all experiencing. Moving too fast is not always the best option. We already know that staying where we are is not an option.

Taking care of our selves involves both comfort and change. Resistance only intensifies our discomfort.
