Autumn Equinox: The Quality of Time

posted in: Equinox | 0

Tonight the Sun enters Libra while crossing the equator. Equal day and night. In the Northern Hemisphere, days will grow shorter as we move into autumn and winter.

The Equinox chart suggests what we can expect for the next three months. We’re in for a magical time.

Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto all aspect the Sun. The Moon sits with Ceres, at the apex of a yod with Pluto and Neptune. The Moon and Ceres trine the chaos goddess Eris.

Libra is Venus’ daytime sign, a place of diplomacy and charm. Here, we can (as they say about the Irish), tell a man to go to hell so he looks forward to the trip. Venus in late Virgo is widely conjunct the Sun, but it’s the Mercury conjunction we’re drawn to.

Mercury is only a few hours away from cazimi, the moment of illumination in the throne room of the Sun. In Libra, in mutual reception with Venus, Mercury’s vision is shot through will golden strands of beauty, harmony, good will, and artistry.

The Sun and Mercury form an out-of-sign opposition to Neptune, while Venus makes a direct version of the same aspect. Here is magic from the stars. Fairy dust. Turn your coat inside out to avoid being pixie-led.

Sun and Mercury oppose magnificent Jupiter. Both good luck planets are strong at this Equinox.

Jupiter, Neptune, and Mercury are all retrograde. We’re on an inward journey. There’s much to explore, but the sign posts might be a bit wonky.

The Moon at the end of Leo feels the weight of the world. Ceres carries her own sadness. A trine to Eris connects to the worldwide challenges we face.

The yod with Neptune and Pluto reminds us that our own creative passions and convictions will be called upon.

Time is a funny thing. Cycles move differently for each of the planetary bodies. For us, the felt experience of time changes with our moods, what we’re doing, our health, and our spiritual connections.

What kind of time are you in? How will you navigate the magical but fluid months ahead? Look for the second star to the right, then straight on ’til morning.
