New Moon in Libra: Navigating the Currents of Change

posted in: Libra, New Moon | 0

Today’s New Moon in Libra offers peace in a time of challenge. We are lifted on currents of Air. Offered new perspectives, a long view, fresh ways of seeing.

The Sun and Moon in early Libra are acutely aware of injustice. They want life to be fair, but sometimes cannot see the way forward. Discernment and a kind of inner awareness can emerge, but this takes time. What we can feel at this New Moon is how unbalanced the world is, along with a great hope that change is possible.

Mercury and Venus conjunct in late Virgo, are also conjunct the New Moon. Mercury has returned to Virgo after their meeting with the Sun. With Venus’ help, we see the intricate beauty and feel the satisfaction of getting the details right.

Navigating through complexity calls for close attention to details. What are our compass bearings? Which stars are leading in the direction we wish to go? We need to watch the currents to stay on course.

Mercury and Venus trine Pluto. The details we need to pay attention to are not the superficial ones. No rearranging of decks while an iceberg looms, please. Pluto wants a deeper kind of truth, getting to the core of what matters. This depth will create the kinds of foundations that can last a long, long time.

Mercury and Venus also oppose Neptune. We’re sailing among new stars, far from home. Sometimes mists obscure the way. We might not be able to get our bearings clearly, which could make Mercury and Venus feel anxious. If we don’t know where we are, how can we reach our goals?

Yet Neptune reminds us our world is vast. There is more to know, do, and see than we can imagine.

In the face of so much, Mercury and Venus in Virgo are invited to relax. We can’t know it all, see it all, or have it all. So why not trust? In something, even if we can’t see it clearly.

This opens doors to more creativity and supports Pluto’s quest for depth. (Neptune and Pluto sextile each other.)

We are sailing far from home. Neptune says, the cosmos is our home.

The New Moon opposes Jupiter in Aries. Here we have the call to adventure. Jupiter invites us to open our hearts and minds to surprise and delight.

Imagine Jupiter as the captain of our New Moon ship. Crusty, taciturn, with many voyages and many years of experience under his belt.

The captain has seen many new horizons and still seeks for more. What is over that next horizon? What marvelous adventures might we fall into? What new ideas and ways of living might we discover?

Jupiter keeps us focused on the big picture. Those tiny details are vital. We don’t want to lose our way. But the details serve the bigger mission to travel into new realms and bring back treasures.

That Saturn–Uranus square remains present and strong. The world is still with us, as it is, filled with injustice and challenges. Revolution and tradition still push and pull against each other.

The trine from Mars to Saturn shifts this energy. Will we see the folly of youth (Mars in Gemini) calling out a stern disciplinarian in Saturn who insists on the old ways? Who has no flexibility, and says, follow the rules or else?

Or could we see the curiosity of youth inviting Saturn’s wisdom into new channels?

Mercury and Jupiter retrograde offer paths to inner journeys. There are landscapes of mind and heart and soul that deserve attention. What have we forgotten about ourselves that we can reconnect with? Where have we perhaps gone off course and need to regain our bearings?

We greet this New Moon with a feeling of new horizons opening before us. We know we’re on a great journey. We see creative possibilities here, an invitation to explore, a sense of buoyancy and possibility.

With this New Moon in Libra, we can look forward to that trip. There are dangers, of course. We’re sailing into the “here be dragons” parts of the map. But seriously, who doesn’t want to see a dragon?
