Last Quarter Moon in Gemini: Supercharged

posted in: Gemini, Last Quarter Moon | 0

Friday morning, before dawn (in my time zone), we enter the Last Quarter phase with the Moon in mid Gemini.

The Last Quarter is our time to get things done: Finish our project for this lunar cycle, and make solid progress on anything else we’re working on. This Moon brings in a buzzy, overstimulated energy that could help us push through but is also distracting.

The core aspect of the Last Quarter is the square between the Sun and Moon. The Sun in mid Virgo is really focused on the task at hand.

The Sun is not strong in mid Virgo, but gains strength from Mercury, who is very well placed. Mercury remains under the Sun’s beams, but is also in a sign they rule and in which they’re exalted. This Mercury can think clearly, make detailed plans, and advocate well for their goals.

So we have an active conversation going on. The Sun and Mercury want to stick to the plan and carry out the work. The activated Gemini Moon has twelve new ideas she’s sure are better, or maybe this other one over here is really the best.

The Moon is always bight and energetic in Gemini. Right now, she is also out of bounds, which means, she not going to listen well to anyone else. And, she moves into the square with the Sun while she’s leaving a conjunction with Uranus. Each of these, being in mid Gemini, being OOB, and separating from Uranus adds a layer of excitement and distraction.

In addition, this Moon sextiles both Jupiter and Saturn, who trine each other. This becomes important because it adds a layer of high energy distraction to the challenging square between Mars and Saturn.

In world affairs, the Mars-Saturn square link to escalations in conflicts of all kinds. While we could see the Jupiter trine to Saturn as bringing in calm and good will, Jupiter might also leave Saturn feeling bolder. Adding in the Gemini Moon adds confusion.

We also need to remember that this Mars is in the middle of Cancer, the Moon’s sign. Mars is in fall here, not powerful in terms of dignity of position, and yet still able to act out is conflictive ways. In Cancer, which is emotional and prioritizes loyalty, this can include passive aggression as well as direct challenges.

If it sounds like there’s a lot going on, that’s correct. That doesn’t mean we’re stuck and unable to act. With this much energy around, we may need to act. We may want to channel these forces and not just let them bounce around. But that calls for discernment and self control.

Check your birth chart. If this Last Quarter chart interacts with your chart in intense ways, you’ll want to be aware of that and plan carefully how to act and react to what comes up.

If you’re not as directly affected, you’ll still want to be aware. We’re all likely to feel a sense of lots of energy, not well controlled or focused, floating around. We may want to channel it productively, or at least, stay out of the way.

Pay attention. Try not to be distracted by the buzzy vibes. Stay grounded. And if work gets done, that’s wonderful.
