Gibbous Moon in Scorpio: Deep Wells of Memory

posted in: Gibbous Moon, Scorpio | 0

Before we reach the Full Moon, the Gibbous Moon arrives with a challenge. This time, it comes in the form of memories.

These are not light-hearted memories of a bright summer day, a wonderful party, a walk along the ocean’s shore. These are memories that come back in dreams, or make it hard to fall asleep in the first place.

This Scorpio Moon falls in the middle decan of the sign of fixed Water, a place of intensity and secrets and things that go bump in the night. Also, the kinds of insights that change everything.

This is the place of Samhain, ancient Celtic festival of ancestors and the deep past, a hinge that opens to the dark half of the dark half of the year. The Sun is just past the solstice, the brightest day. The aspect of the Gibbous Moon is a sesquiquadrate, a square and a half, a tense connection.

The Moon also forms a sesquiquadrate to Neptune in Aries, who squares the Sun. This creates a Thor’s Hammer, a broad triangle known as a difficult and challenging pattern. It feels unsettling, like having dark clouds loom unexpectedly on the horizon of a sunny day.

The Moon separates from a square to Venus newly in Leo, and moves to trine Mercury and Jupiter at the end of Cancer. Venus trines Saturn, Leo to Aries. The Moon moves to oppose Mars (ancient ruler of Scorpio) in Taurus.

Before we reach the Full Moon, Mercury stations retrograde. Mars enters Gemini. The Full Moon in early Capricorn will square both Neptune and Saturn in Aries.

There are many conversations going on. The best matches for your chart indicate where your attention will focus.

This is a time to listen carefully. A casual comment might mean more than it seems. A chance encounter may evoke the past. Whatever comes up, however odd, might be worth noting. If you works with omens, these days can offer insights.

Look deeply. Listen well.
