Balsamic Moon in Cancer: Deep Water

posted in: Balsamic Moon, Cancer, Eclipse | 0

We enter the Balsamic phase early Sunday. It’s time to focus on what’s complete, no longer needed, or in the way of what we’re moving toward.

The Moon’s in early Cancer, her own sign. She’s strong in the first decan. With her support, we can make difficult choices. On the other hand, if our feelings are in the way, this Moon can make letting go difficult.

There’s no judgment about what’s right or wrong. Feelings are what they are. They offer important insights into where we’re stuck, or ready to move. With this Balsamic Moon, we sit with our feelings, no matter what they are.

Mercury is also in Cancer, in its final degree. Mercury has been traveling through Cancer for weeks now. They almost reached the end of the sign on June 29, but stationed retrograde. They moved back until July 23, then turned forward, leaving the review period a few days ago, on August 6.

This is a philosophical Mercury who’s developed a lot of wisdom over the last weeks. In the midst of strong emotions, Mercury can provide perspective and insight.

The Moon squares Venus, who’s also in a strong place. This is Venus the peace-maker, whose calm grasp of a situation supports good conversation. She’s also helpful if emotional tides get overwhelming.

We need to be able to listen.

Venus is one corner of a Kite pattern. She trines Pluto and Uranus, and opposes Neptune. She understands the big patterns we’re living in and is ready to translate for us.

The Sun and Jupiter in Leo challenge Saturn retrograde in Aries. These are trines, which are usually helpful. Here, though, two big, bright, powerful energies push Saturn to act. He’s still a “no.”

Mars, ruling Saturn, is at the end of Gemini, where choices must be made. Mars is tightly conjunct Ceres, with her fierce maternal energy. The choices we make feel fated and fateful.

We’re heading into a New Moon eclipse in Leo, followed by a Full Moon eclipse in Aquarius. We’re inside the eclipse field.

For a bit more intensity, both the Moon and Mars are out of bounds, not listening to advice, wanting what they want.

Comparing this Balsamic chart to your birth chart really helps. Which planets interact with your chart? That’s where you’re most likely to enter this pattern.

With lots of Air, you might be the facilitator. You see the value in staying calm. Still, high emotions can be tough to navigate.

With lots of Cancerian energy, or the Moon or Mercury aspecting your chart strongly, emotions may be front and center. Find a calm friend.

There are no planets in Earth signs, so we’ll all want to get grounded, whatever works best: movement, time in nature, hanging out with animals, bodywork.

What are we willing to let go of? If something needs to be released and we’re hanging on, how can we gently loosen our grip?
