First Quarter Moon in Leo: The Unlooked-for Gift

posted in: First Quarter Moon, Leo | 0

Tomorrow afternoon we reach the First Quarter, the square between the Sun and Moon. This is the midpoint between the New and Full Moons. It’s a place where effort is needed (true with all squares). At this waxing square, we might discover we need new skills, too, and start figuring out how to build them.

This First Quarter is intense: The Sun in the final, anoretic degree of Taurus, the Moon in the final degree of Leo. Fixed Earth to fixed Fire, there’s a fierce feel here, as if we’re locked in a struggle, bound and determined to hang on to what’s ours no matter what.

And yet. And yet … we feel something new, something fresh. A shift underway. A lighter mood. A sense of hope.

The First Quarter square is actually a T-square. Jupiter, newly arrived in Pisces, opposes the Moon and squares the Sun. It’s not as bleak as it feels, says Jupiter. I’m here to offer support, a boon, some grace to get you through.

Jupiter is the unlooked-for gift. In Pisces, they’re taking in deep breaths of ocean air, feeling expansive and powerful for the first time in several years. In Capricorn and Aquarius, Jupiter could still help, but was much more restricted. Now they’re in the sign of exaltation.

The Sun and Moon also teeter on the end of change. Less than two hours after the First Quarter square is exact, the Moon enters careful Virgo. In 24 hours, the Sun enters bright, scintillating Gemini. Both places will be more flexible than Leo and Taurus.

Hang in there. If you’re feeling stuck, held back, at an impasse, know that things are in a state of change.

The upcoming Full Moon is an eclipse. Change is on the agenda.

That change is heralded at the First Quarter. I’s not all going to be terrible. There’s a call to action for sure. With it, we’ll find a gift, something to lift our spirits, offer hope, and brighten the view ahead.
