Balsamic Moon in Leo: Essence

Sunday evening, we enter the Balsamic phase with the Moon in early Leo.

In this first decan of Leo, we want to shine. We long for our moment in the sun, when we are seen for who we truly are.

How does this fit with an almost-invisible waning Moon? In this phase, we’re letting go.

Consider what we’ve been through this lunar cycle, with Venus emerging from her underworld journey, and with the current Mercury retrograde. We’ve been asked to dive into self examination in multiple ways, in many areas of our lives. The process has not been easy.

As we approach another New Moon, where are we? Who are we?

The key question for this Balsamic Moon is, what is our essence?

The Moon at 02º57’ Leo is a bit of a singleton. There are no classic, perfected Ptolemaic aspects. This Moon is semisquare the Sun, which defines the Balsamic phase. There is a quincunx to Saturn, an applying sextile to Mars, and copresence with Venus.

The important aspects are out-of-sign. This Moon is opposite Pluto and squaring the Nodes of the Moon, early Leo to late Capricorn, Aries, and Libra. Because the Moon moves quickly, her exact aspects to these three points of fate will occur Sunday morning.

The Moon in late Cancer confirms, and feels the emotional depths of, the ongoing Pluto square to the Nodes. But she moves on, stepping into bright, passionate Fire.

The Leo Moon is completely comfortable with this. Our bodies, our emotions, both part of our Moons, do not forget. Yet it’s time to move on, with grace, joy, and renewed commitment to ourselves.

It’s typical during the Balsamic phase to focus on what needs to be released. This time, the process reverses itself.

Who you are in your essence? Hold on to that with all the creativity and passion of Leo. Anything nonessential can simply fade.
