Last Quarter Moon in Gemini: Renewal

posted in: Cazimi, Gemini, Last Quarter Moon | 0

Today opened with the Mercury cazimi, the exact conjunction between Mercury and the Sun at 13º36’ Virgo.

This is the moment Mercury ascended to the throne for a personal, up close encounter with our star. It’s a time of illumination. An ah-ha moment.

Mercury, whose light is currently hidden by the Sun’s brilliance, gets an extra boost from Jupiter at 15º34’ Taurus who trines the cazimi.

We won’t have full details today, but we’re likely to sense an awakening of the mind. You might feel more alert and alive mentally.

In a few hours, we enter the Last Quarter phase with a Gemini Moon squaring Mercury and the Sun. Mercury is just slipping out of exact conjunction, still very much combust. This Moon is ruled by Mercury, though. The intense curiosity that consumes Gemini can’t help asking, what’s going on? What’s happening?

This Last Quarter chart has a lot going on in the middle degrees. There’s a lovely conversation underway that includes the Sun, Mercury, and the Moon, plus Jupiter and Venus. The connections are a bit complex:

Moon square Sun and Mercury, and sextile Venus.
Venus square Jupiter.
Jupiter trine Sun and Mercury.

Notice the combination of mutable and fixed signs, and that Earth, Air, and Fire are involved. If you have anything in your birth chart in and around 12-15º, you’re in this conversation too.

We’re finally in a place to begin making sense of the Pisces Full Moon and lots of other things.

Venus is now direct. As she moves forward, she’ll visit each degree of her retrograde journey for the third time. Whatever has come up for you during this Venus in Leo time, it may start coming together and sorting itself out.

Jupiter remains at the degree where he stationed retrograde on September 4. This time of stationing is especially powerful, as he sits still on the same degree for days. Jupiter brings that intensity to the Mercury cazimi and the Last Quarter square.

Jupiter entered the preshadow for this retrograde on June 11 at 05º34’Taurus, where he will eventually station direct on December 30.

Because outer planets spend so much time retrograde, we might not notice them on a day to day basis. Yet it’s good to remember that we’re turning inward on matters of philosophy, and potentially questions of legacy, survivability, and loyalty during these months.

Mercury’s retrograde brings that inward orientation into sharp focus. They’ll station direct on September 15, giving us another week of potential glitches and mixed messages, as well as chances to slow down and review.

The Last Quarter is a time of consolidation and action. Given the number of retrogrades happening, that action is likely to feel internal. Don’t discount the value of this opportunity.

What’s happening now is renewal. All things related to the Sun and Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter collaborate to create a reorientation in our minds, bodies, and souls.

Depending on how you’ve experienced recent transits, this could feel like a huge shift, or a modest one. Wherever you are on the continuum, accept the invitation.

For the next four days, notice what wants to be refreshed and rejuvenated. Relationships, creativity, philosophy, learning, all mental activities, and our core selves all connect. Let it happen.
