How do I choose when to make wishes with a New Moon?
The New Moon is absolutely a time of beginnings. And the Moon needs light to carry our messages! So we need to practice patience until the Moon has light again.
The keys are:
• Wait until the Moon is visible in the sky (minimum of 16 hours after the New).
• Choose an opportune time. This can be an elected time. If you work with the planetary hours, it can be during the hour of the Moon. If you can see the New Moon, the very early crescent, you might speak to the Moon. Choose what works for you.
• Align your wishes with the energies of each New Moon and with your birth chart.
• Create wishes that resonate with your heart. If it doesn’t feel right, rephrase.
Make your wish and release it to the Moon and the cosmos.

At the time you choose, you can share your wishes however you like. Greet the Moon. Speak your wishes aloud. Write them down. Perhaps you light a candle. Perhaps you have a ritual meaningful for you. Thank the Moon.
Two Electional Charts
These two charts have much in common. Both occur early after the New Moon but well past the 16 hour window. Both present the Pisces planets in an angular (strong) house. Both place the Sun on the angle, with Jupiter also conjunct.
Both charts tuck Saturn away in a cadent house.
Both charts do include connection to the Pluto–Mars–Venus group in Capricorn, and, there is no way around that.
If you reviewed my New Moon posts, you’ll know that I see the Capricorn group as a vital component of where we can take this New Moon cycle. This is where the action is, where our Piscean dreams become reality.
Generally, in electional charts, you want Mars tucked out of the way somewhere, not causing a fuss. That’s not possible this time, so, we weave him into our wishes.
Perhaps we invoke the Pisces group and Venus to dissolve, or calm, or even confuse an aggressive Mars. Perhaps we instead ask that Mars be convinced to bring his energy and stamina into alignment with our goals.
The first chart is set for about 6:30 am EST on Thursday, March 3.
The first chart places the Pisces group in the First House and the Capricorn group on the Eleventh. I might choose this one for wishes that relate to integrating the gifts of Pisces into my own character and identity (1st House) and then using those gifts to influence my networks (11th House).
The second chart is set for about 12:30 pm EST on Thursday, March 3.
The second chart places the Pisces group in the Tenth House and the Capricorn group in the Eighth. Here, Piscean gifts are brought into the public sphere of our work and roles (10th House) in order to work with hidden forces that can help or harm us (8th House).
In both charts, the Moon’s next aspect is a sextile to Venus, generally considered a lovely thing, except for the co-presence of Mars. In this case, we work with what we have!
Traditionally, outer planets do not appear and are not used in electional astrology. While I focus on the traditional rules for choosing charts, I can’t really ignore the outer planets. They’re too powerful in their influence.
A Note on Timing
My charts are set for Eastern time, which is the time zone I live in. In other time zones, you may need to adjust the time of the chart to preserve the important features.
In each of these charts, it’s important to have the Sun conjunct the angle (Ascendant or Midheaven). That should settle everything else into place.
I’ve included two examples here, one for California and one for France, so you can see how this works.
