Last Quarter Moon in Pisces: Pivot

Today we step into the Last Quarter Moon, the Sun–Moon square that marks the halfway point between the Full and New Moon.

The Last Quarter phase is when everything we’ve planned, learned, and experienced during this lunar cycle comes together. We perceive. We understand. We act.

You may be thinking, but wait a minute, this Moon is in Pisces. Aren’t we meant to be floating and dreaming? Maybe. Maybe not. This Last Quarter is a pivot.

Notice that the Moon at 19º40’ Pisces is about halfway between Saturn at 07º10’ and Neptune at 27º34’. Both Saturn and Neptune are in powerful places right now, both slowed down to station retrograde.

Saturn and Neptune are not moving much, but the Moon is. Our cosmic messenger Moon carries questions from Saturn to Neptune: What is the structure of dreams? What does a responsible spiritual path look like?

The Moon squares the Gemini Sun. More questions. How do we translate our dreams into language? How can we balance the dualities built into life?

There are more pivots coming during this phase.

Tomorrow, June 11, Pluto reenters Capricorn. This will happen around dawn in my Eastern US time zone. We’d had a taste of what Pluto in Aquarius will look like. You may have caught glimpses of shining new futures. You might also be wondering whether AI will destroy humanity. But these were just review reels.

We’re now escorted back, for the last time in our lifetimes, to Pluto in Capricorn. Is there more we need to see or experience here?

The shift from Cap to Aquarius is from past to future. Capricorn is tradition, not messing with success. Aquarius is brave new worlds. Where are you in this process? Futurist Luddite? Excited about the next tech revolutions? Searching for that portal to the past?

Fifteen minutes later, Mercury enters Gemini. Taurus has been cozy and quiet. Now the mind wakes up. Somebody turned the lights on! Our thinking brightens, quickens, gets a little crazy. This Mercury is stronger, in their own sign. This affects the Gemini Sun as well–Mercury, the ruler, is lit.

Five hours later, Venus reaches an exact square with Jupiter. This is significant for two reasons.

First, this combination could make the weekend a little crazy. The Moon in Pisces is ready to party and more sensitive than usual to substances and influences. The Sun in Gemini is stoked. It’s party time and we’re ready to stay up all night.

Pluto in Capricorn is at the bar singing ‘last chance’ songs. Then Venus and Jupiter walk in, arm in arm, the sparks already flying, the vibe intense.

I hate to play Saturn here, but this is not the best time to overspend, overindulge, or over-anything. Make a plan. Stick to the plan. Do not take ALL the credit cards with you.

And also, Venus and Jupiter are beginning a complex dance that will continue throughout Venus’ long stay and retrograde in Leo. Jupiter in Taurus is in a Venus-ruled sign, which places the philosopher sage under Venus’ influence. Square aspects intensify that connection.

Sunday’s Venus–Jupiter square is the first of three. This means it’s time to check your birth chart. Where are Venus and Jupiter in your chart? Where are Leo and Taurus? Takes notes.

The second Venus–Jupiter square in this series occurs on August 22 with Venus retrograde in Leo and Jupiter direct in Taurus at 15º18’.

On September 3, Venus stations direct at 12º12’ Leo. On September 4, Jupiter stations retrograde at 15’34 Taurus.

The third Venus–Jupiter square occurs on September 17 with Venus direct and Jupiter retrograde at … ummm … 15º18’. That’s not a typo. It’s the exact place they met earlier, to the minute.

Make a note of where 15º18’ is in your chart in Leo and Taurus, also in Libra (Venus’ daytime sign), in Scorpio and Aquarius (the other fixed signs), and in general.

We’ll want to pay attention over the next few days, doing our best to fit what’s happening now into everything we learned since the Sagittarius New Moon on June 3.

We want to reach for insights and understanding. To take action when we feel ready and the time is right.

Great timing, another confirmation that it is Life I am following not an old pattern. Thank you, this makes me more confident that the path will appear as I need it too.
