Gibbous Moon in Taurus: Away from Home

posted in: Gibbous Moon, Taurus | 0

We’re about to enter the Gibbous phase on this Christmas night. This phase, a square and a half between Sun and Moon, presents a final challenge on the way to the Full Moon.

The Full Moon will be in the sign of Cancer, the Moon’s home sign, and a place much beleaguered this year by heavy Capricorn energy.

This Full Moon, though, is free from Saturn’s influence and likely to feel welcoming, as if we’re coming home.

The Gibbous challenge tells us we’re not as close to home as we hoped.

The Moon @ 19 Taurus sextiles Neptune, who continues to square the Nodes of the Moon. Our way home, as well as the way forward, is shrouded in fog.

The Sun and Mercury tightly trine Uranus and square Chiron. We are in a chaotic time when old wounds might be triggered.

Themes of having to leave home are a part of the history of this time of year, and of this time in history. We are not ‘at home’ in the way we desire. We don’t know quite where we are.

For some, it’s the dislocation of a difficult year. For others, a literal loss of home. Too many face homelessness, exile, the journeys of the refugee.

In the midst of warmth and comfort, tonight we are reminded of what it means to be lost and far from home.

The Full Moon in Cancer will illuminate who is family for us and where home is. Maybe tonight our Gibbous Moon challenge is to widen that circle. Can we include more? Welcome more? Can we care more generously?

If we can, perhaps the Full Moon will bring more of us home.
