First Quarter Moon in Sagittarius: Soaring

The lunar cycle, this time around, seems to bounce us between reality checks, a boost of optimism and energy, then a check, then another boost. Today’s First Quarter Moon is a definite lift.

We could be feeling all over the place with this. I’m seeing another option. Mercury, part of today’s pattern, is very slow.

In less than a week, we’ll be in a Mercury retrograde. Our perceptions, thoughts, and processing are turning inward. So let’s track. How are we doing? What is affecting our moods, our thoughts?

But first, the lift off!

Today’s chart is all about the early degrees. The Moon at 11 Sag is separating from an opposition to Mars and a trine to Jupiter (there’s our energy boost right there). Also separating from a sextile to Mercury, opposite Jupiter (that internal tracking thing).

This is all Air and Fire: light, bright, heady, energized. In the First Quarter, when we’re meant to move toward our goals, this is great.

Mercury, again, keeps us checking in with ourselves.

The Sun and Moon are square, as well, the defining aspect of the First Quarter.

This creates a waning T square with Mars in which the Virgo Sun also reminds us to be sure all the ropes are tight, we’re dressed for the weather in the upper sky, and we have snax before lift off.

The Sun is applying to trine the North Node and Uranus. Virgo knows to expect the unexpected.

The Moon applies to trine Chiron in Aries. Our journey into the skies has healing potential.

These next few days are good for getting started, coming to grips with something you need to sort out, and moving forward. It’s time to soar.
