First Quarter Moon in Cancer: In This Corner …

The First Quarter Moon arrives soon. This square between Sun and Moon presents a challenge: Are we moving toward the goals we set at the New Moon or are we stuck?

The challenge could not be more stark.

The chart shows this plainly: All of the major transiting planets are connected to the Moon and Sun today.

The Moon sits with the North Node of the future in tender, caring, protective Cancer. This is the direction we are meant to be going. Right now, it could feel impossibly far.

Across from the Moon and North Node are the heavyweights: Pluto and Saturn with the South Node in Capricorn. Here we confront the stark consequences of business as usual run amok. We know things must change and yet the existing structures feel powerful and implacable.

The Sun and Eris square both sides. Do something! Yesterday! The house is on fire! These two in Aries are ready to act, itching to jump into the fray. Jupiter, newly retrograde, flows energy to these firebrands, adding fuel.

Which side, though? Who wins?

Meanwhile, the Pisces group (Neptune, Venus, Mercury) send enticing messages to the Moon and North Node. Here, too, the options vary widely. We might be beguiled into forgetting the whole mess and drifting off to a beautiful, far away place. Or we might be reminded we are not alone, help is available, and asking is the first step.

Who we are and how we understand our place means everything today.

Do we feel powerless or can we see that small steps taken with love can move mountains? Do we narrow our focus to a select few, vowing to defend them to the death? Or can we become even more inclusive, widening our circle of care?

Today we feel this in our bodies. Emotions can run high. We could feel backed into a corner, no way out.

See if you can find a place of peace inside and watch the tides. Noticing what we feel and how we feel can bring real insights.

Self care is good. Reaching out in considered yet caring ways can also bring enlightening perspectives. Who do we care about? How do we offer care? What does this tell us about where we are in alignment (or not) with our best selves?
