Balsamic Moon in Cancer: Pruning

posted in: Balsamic Moon, Cancer | 0

Today (Thursday) we continue our journey with the Moon in Cancer, keeping our focus on home, what it means, and all the feels we have.

Before dawn tomorrow, we enter the Balsamic phase. The Moon will be in very late Cancer, a place where they’re especially powerful.

We may lean into traditional ideas of home, family, and the good life.

Yet strong transit patterns disrupt ‘the way things have always been done.’

This is entirely appropriate for the Balsamic phase, when we prepare the ground for the New Moon to come. These next days are times for review, reflection, and release. We let go of what no longer fits.

The Moon opposes Pluto. We know we’re in subconscious realms.

Venus squares both the Moon and Pluto: Are our models of home inclusive? Fair? Harmonious? Beautiful?

The chaos goddess Eris opposes Venus and squares the Moon and Pluto. Now we’re in a Cardinal Grand Cross. Something needs to happen. Eris demands our definitions of home include the Earth and all its beings. What needs to change in us to see this?

We’re asked to prune away outmoded, unjust, inequitable, damaging models.

The Moon separates from a trine with Neptune, who opposes Mars, who sextiles the Moon. We’re not sure how we feel or what to do.

This could be a place where the Moon doubles down, holding fast to traditional ways. Neptune can create a sort of glow that lets us believe we’re right, even praiseworthy, when more review might be called for.

This sounds a bit up and down, which is exactly what we may experience over the next few days.

Of course many traditions are wonderful and well worth preserving. And yes, ideas about who counts as family or is allowed to be part of our communities, or even whether everyone deserves a home, might benefit from a thorough overhaul.

Remember, when we work with emotions, acknowledging what is comes first. If we find an uncomfortable belief, we can dig in to find its roots. Then we gently prune away what no longer fits who we are.

This is what Balsamic Moons are for.
