Crescent Moon in Virgo: On Cue

posted in: Crescent Moon, Retrograde, Virgo | 0

We’ve entered the Crescent phase with a Moon at the door of Virgo’s second decan. The Moon is with Venus, separating from a conjunction. Venus remains at the end of the first decan.

These two set the stage for this phase. After the dark of the New Moon, we have light again in the night sky–though not much. After the quiet of the New Moon in Cancer, we’re ready to start moving–but not yet.

Venus struggles to find her balance. The Moon is quiet, industrious, and self reliant. Both art and craft are found in Virgo.

Mercury remains retrograde at 17º Cancer, which means the Moon and Mercury are in mutual reception: Each in the other’s house. Mercury is still under the beams of the Sun, but may find their voice in this articulate and creative place.

The Sun approaches the end of Cancer and applies to conjunct Jupiter in Leo. The Sun looks ahead to Leo’s bright stage, in the company of the Great Benefic. We’re not there yet.

Notice these themes of “not quite” and “not yet.” In Virgo, the Moon and Venus are prepared. Virgo is always prepared. We can be sure the Sun is peering out from backstage, ready to enter Leo’s blaze.

We’re right where we need to be. We wait for the cue to begin.

As we’ve seen, there’s plenty of action in the rest of the chart. During this Crescent phase, Pluto’s trine to Uranus, Jupiter’s trine to Neptune, and Jupiter’s opposition to Pluto all reach their exact moments. This brings the basket pattern described by French astrologer Barbault into precise focus.

The interpretive challenge here is to know where to look or what to link to this basket. At this point in time, so many big events are happening, it’s impossible to know which will have the most lasting impact.

The Moon just left a square to Uranus and moves into a square to Mars. She too is aware of the speed of current events. In Virgo, though, she holds on to her training and discipline. She won’t move until the time is right.

The Moon’s light grows. We’re ready for our next experience. But it’s not time to move. We can feel this in various ways, depending on our birth charts.

A chart with lots of Leo may chafe at the delay, focused on the bright lights. A chart with lots of Virgo can wait calmly, reviewing each step carefully. Gemini, with Uranus and Mars present, might not be able to wait, and jump in early.

Compare your chart with this Crescent Moon to see where your focus will be. The best advice for everyone, though, comes from a great blues song by BB King: Don’t make a move too soon.
