Solstice: Ceasura

Feel the stillness today.

In the midst of hurry, stress, rushing, we still feel the tug to be quiet. For one moment, pause. Listen with our entire beings.

This is the day, in the northern hemisphere, when the Sun looks over her shoulder. Catches sight of the dark and cold gathering. Says, oh, look, let’s move there again.

And she does, shifting her steps, turning her face, smiling.

Notice how the Moon in late Cancer points our hearts and bodies toward Venus and Pluto. Here, she says, look here.

Venus, in her own moment of stillness, begins her descent. She is retrograde. Cocooned. Already held in an alembic she herself has crafted. Made of copper. Tended by Pluto as archmage and alchemist.

Persephone reclaims her queenship.

Inanna relinquishes power and descends to join her grieving sister.

Lady Sovereignty calls us to honor the land, our source and sustenance.

The Cailleach hurls boulders and flexes broad shoulders.

bell hooks calls us to a Capricorn kind of love: Love in action. Love based in ethics. Love that stands up. Stands tall. Keeps walking. Keeps pushing. And loves through it all.

The journey begins.
