Mercury Cazimi: Fire in the Head

posted in: Balsamic Moon, Leo | 0

Monday morning Mercury steps into the Sun’s private chamber to receive illumination.

This is Mercury’s superior conjunction with the Sun, the Mercurial “Full Moon.” Here we gain insight into the wider meaning of whatever we were shown during Mercury’s previous, inferior conjunction on June 9.

At the inferior conjunction, with Mercury Rx in Cancer, we felt. At this superior conjunction with Mercury Dx in Leo, we know.

The chart for this cazimi, so close to the New Moon, is amazing.

We see a Grand Trine in Fire of Sun + Mercury in Leo, Mars in Aries, and the South Node in Sagittarius. So much light and energy!

And since the Gemini North Node must also be involved, the Grand Trine is actually a Kite pointing to the future. What we learn will have long range impact.

Then there are the two overlapping yods:

Saturn/ Pluto, and Neptune, inconjunct Sun/ Mercury: Our Light must find the balance between pragmatics and vision.

Then, Sun/ Mercury, and the North Node, inconjunct Saturn/ Pluto: How we understand the past will inform our approach to the future.

Meanwhile Mars squares Saturn and Pluto: Our intense drive to act is either thwarted or directed by our sense of responsibility and boundaries.

With so much happening in the world and our lives, how will we know where to look for illumination? Well, with this chart, it’s likely to knock us right on the head.

Amergin, great poet of the Celts, declared himself when he first landed on the shores of Ireland with his people.

“I am the fire in the head,” he said as he invoked the birds, animals, and the land itself.

For the Celts, the head is the seat of the soul, the place of poetry and illumination. What better image for a Mercury cazimi in Leo, with the Moon newly in this same sign of fixed Fire?

May we all find the fire in the head that lights us from within. May we all become poets.
