Last Quarter Moon in Taurus: Underneath

Overnight, we enter the Last Quarter phase, the square from the Moon to the Sun halfway between the Full Moon and the New.

I love Taurus Moons because of the slow, calm, comfort they tend to bring. At this Last Quarter, though, things are complicated.

The Moon sits between Mars, and Uranus and the North Node. The Sun separates from an opposition to Saturn. Yes, this Last Quarter Moon activates the Saturn–Uranus square once again.

There’s also a fascinating Kite aspect. The Taurus Moon trines Pluto in Capricorn and Mercury in Virgo, Grand Trine in Earth. Meanwhile, the Moon and Pluto both sextile Neptune in Pisces, as Mercury moves to oppose Neptune. This places mystical, watery Neptune at the apex of the Kite.

Venus is only just separating from the trine with Jupiter so we’re still feeling the creative warmth there.

The Saturn–Uranus square keeps us in an ongoing tension between what needs to change and what wants to stay the same. The fight’s not over yet, in so many arenas, and only time will reveal the outcomes.

This Last Quarter ties right into this tension and pours a tremendous amount of insight, creative potential, and stamina into it.

The Pluto–Moon–Mercury trine combines stability, depth, and an agile mind. Adding Neptune brings in layers of creativity, spirituality, and idealism. The Venus–Jupiter trine contributes optimism, grace, and more creativity.

Last Quarter Moons can be really productive. We have the preparation of the waxing cycle, crowned by the illumination of the Full Moon. We’re ready to do the work.

At this Last Quarter, we see the difficulties of the path before us, and we’re given the tools we need to dig in.

This is deep work. It can also be very satisfying. What the work is, for each of us, is different. Problem solving in our personal lives or for the collective. Perhaps inner work, to clear the way for healing and new efforts ahead.

Whatever shape the work takes, these next days offer us the tools we need to prepare the ground and dive underneath.
