Gibbous Moon in Leo: Big Heart

Just before dawn tomorrow, in my Eastern time zone, we reach the square-and-a-half that opens the Gibbous Moon phase.

At this point in the cycle, we’re stuck with our decisions and actions. It is what it is and we make the best of it. Still, we’re not there yet. More challenges lie ahead.

This Moon, newly in Leo, squares Venus and Uranus. There is a test here. If we choose wisely, the outcome may include an unexpected grace.

Gwen Bach had to run like hell away from Cerridwen, but what happened to Finn MacCool? He too gained magical illumination when the liquid from the salmon of wisdom popped from the fire and landed on his thumb. He too put his thumb in his mouth to cool it.

Finn’s mentor, an elder poet, knew when to accept what was. He recognized the unlooked-for event. He knew luck when he saw it.

He continued to train the young Finn in the ways of magic and poetry, helping to raise up one of Ireland’s most famous heroes.

Meanwhile, new baby Gwion is renamed Taliesin, which means “shining brow,” even as Finn means “white” and “shining.” Taliesin becomes one of King Arthur’s companions, taking his place is those great tales.

Sometimes, challenge and danger calls forth the best we can offer. We find courage. Our hearts open. We receive messages from beyond. We craft poetry.

This Leo Moon trines Chiron and Lilith. When we find our courage and great-heartedness, healing is possible. Life maybe not be perfect but it still fills us with awe.
