Crescent Moon in Sagittarius: Time Travel

At Crescent phase, the Moon is 45º from the Sun and again visible in the sky. In my time zone, she will be just above the horizon, present but unseen in the middle of the day.

This is a Sagittarius Moon, out from the dark caverns of Scorpio and ready to ride. Mutable Fire, ruled by Jupiter, Sag is full of energy and endlessly curious. The Moon rules this face, bringing concentration and focus to any quest.

The Sun has entered Scorpio, diving into what is deep, hidden, and mysterious.

The Big Change triangle remains in place: Pluto trine Uranus, both sextiling Neptune and Saturn.

Neptune and Saturn have retrograded back into late Pisces. What dreams or delusions do we need to revisit?

Mercury has entered the preview period for their autumn retrograde, which begins in early Sag and moves back into late Scorpio.

Jupiter trines the Mercury–Mars conjunction in Scorpio, bringing benevolent support to our journeys through the shadows. Trines to Saturn in late Pisces complete a Grand Trine in Water.

Notice how much Water appears in this chart, and how sharp the focus in Scorpio grows.

It’s intriguing, then, that Persephone, goddess of the underworld, is associated with the middle decan of Sag, where we find the Crescent Moon.

The Moon’s key aspect is a square to the Nodes. This Moon is at the bending, moving toward the North Node in Pisces.

We’re beginning a journey through time.

Squaring the North and South Nodes, the Moon moves from past to future.

Moving between Scorpio and Sagittarius, we emerge from the depths into light–and with Mercury, will dive back into the depths once again.

We may step out of a cave to feel the Sun on our face and light a fresh torch before diving back into the dark for more exploring.

We might emerge from a journey into our past, bringing forward new understandings for the future, only to be called again into the past for another quest.

We may find ourselves exploring past times, past lives, or deep time, traveling on a Sagittarian trip to bring boons back for ourselves and the world.

The New Moon brought stillness. At this Crescent Moon, it’s time to move. The direction, though–past or future, forward or back–will depend on our aims and our needs.

Which journey will you take?
