Crescent Moon in Libra : Poise

September is an intensely Virgoan month. Virgo’s careful, steady, practical qualities will be explored in many ways over the next weeks—encouraged by some planets, challenged by others.

By the time we reach the Full Moon, we will know far more about Virgo, and how it affects us through any planets and points we have here, and the house it rules.

We have passed the darkness of the New Moon, an intense time, and arrive Monday morning at the Crescent Moon, our first glimpse of what will be unfolding as a result of our New Moon wishes and intentions.

The Sun remains in the first decan of Virgo, with Mercury and Mars. In this decan, the Virgo’s attention to detail is highlighted. Venus has slipped into Virgo’s second decan. where we see that producing beauty calls for sweat, hard work, sometimes pain.

The Moon, in Libra’s third decan, seeks the eye of the storm, looking for rest in the midst of strife, which is plain to see: Eris the chaos goddess opposes the Moon.

In Libra, the Moon seeks beauty, harmony, balance, but her poise will be challenged by Eris’ aggressive insistence that crises must be addressed immediately.

This Libra Moon is ruled by Venus in Virgo, who is aware of the need for hard work. She opposes Neptune, though, which is distracting. Should she focus on the big picture? Or float away into a personal reverie?

Fate plays a hand as well: The Cancer/ Capricorn axis is activated as Neptune trines the North Node and Venus trines the South Node and Saturn.

So the theme of the Moon’s decan is reflected in the aspects at this Crescent Moon. She wishes for equanimity but it might be difficult to find right now.

What should we do then? How can we move forward? Interestingly, we might have an answer. Just hours before the Crescent Moon, Mars reached his conjunction with the Sun, a moment of illumination in a challenging time.

Mars has been hidden by the Sun. During the conjunction, a window of light opens.

We long for balance, struggle to find it, feel larger forces in play, and reach for a moment of insight that shows the way ahead.
