Crescent Moon in Aquarius: First Principles

posted in: Aquarius, Crescent Moon | 0

Today we shift from the New Moon into the Crescent phase, as we begin to move out of the Solstice and into the increasing light.

We do this with the Moon in clear-eyed Aquarius. The Moon isn’t strong here, yet she is philosophical and steady. Her goal is to frame action with firm principles, bringing a clarity to the decisions to come.

Yet the Moon in mid Aquarius feels ungrounded. The Sun has joined Mars in Capricorn, though, providing all the grounding needed, a core strength of Capricorn’s first decan.

Venus at the utter end of Sagittarius is closer by degree to the Sun than Mars is. She is more than ready for Capricorn steadiness, though, after her wild ride through Sag.

Venus, Mars, and the Sun travel together in a way we don’t often see. They’ll reach a series of exact conjunctions with each other in January.

Imagine them as a band of travelers, with Mars boldly scouting the way, the Sun as the energetic core, and Venus bringing up the rear on a blown horse.

The Moon acts as advance guard, scouting territory and sending back dispatches planning their way forward. She’s also in touch with Mercury, a sextile that gives her a view behind as well as ahead.

Saturn rules Capricorn and is the ancient ruler of Aquarius, so his situation is relevant to this Crescent Moon. He is drifting through the final degrees of Pisces, still on the water, watching everything dissolve around him.

So, as we enter this phase of sorting out goals and plans, we have a desire to anchor those plans in our most important principles. We’re also getting our feet back under us after crazy journeys. But we don’t yet see the way clearly. There’s still a lot of fog about.

This isn’t a bad place to be as we emerge from the Solstice turning. The year ahead will bring some startling shakeups. Getting ourselves on solid ground and thinking through core principles are excellent tasks for this time.
