Crescent Moon in Cancer: Extravagant Care

posted in: Cancer, Crescent Moon | 0

Tonight’s Crescent Moon features the Moon, Venus, and Jupiter in the Moon’s own sign. The Moon rests between Jupiter and Venus, the two benefics of Hellenistic astrology. She rules them both, with Jupiter exalted in Cancer as well.

This is a lovely setup for any planet, and especially the Moon, who revels in warm connections, good company, and the extravagant care an exalted Jupiter can bestow.

Other patterns in the chart that bring darker clouds to the horizon, but don’t kill the vibe.

The Moon squares Saturn. She’s separating from the Old Devil, but not by much. And Saturn, being in an earlier sign, is said to be ‘overcoming’ the Moon. So Saturn tells the Moon no, you can’t do this. You can’t have this.

Yet Jupiter and Venus are still there, with the Moon, in Cancer. When we can’t make progress, can’t seem to get off square one, what more can we do than step back for a few days and luxuriate?

Venus sextiles Mars, also difficult, as Mars is ‘overcoming’ Venus. But this is not Mars in Aries. He’s just moved into Taurus, Venus’ own sign, ready to slow down. Sextiles are supportive, not challenging. Mars in Taurus says, taking care of our physical bodies is a good investment.

The Sun’s in the final degree of Taurus and also in an out-of-sign, yet tight conjunction with Uranus and Mercury in Gemini. This Sun reviews the final list of losses before tipping into bright, scintillating Gemini. The future is about to arrive at speed.

We feel that pressure: The Sun and Moon are semisquare, 45º apart. Future events rush toward us. What better way to prepare than some quiet time with Jupiter and Venus?

Venus squares Neptune in Aries: Dreams of the future are already arriving. Venus sextiles Chiron, who is still conjunct Mars, though not yet in Taurus. Issues of healing call for attention.

An intriguing quirk: Both the Moon and Venus are out of bounds, meaning, they follow their own stars, marching to their own drums.

These few days of the Crescent Moon offer some of the best patterns in May, and possibly in 2026. This is an opportune moment to connect to what we, personally, need, and then offer it to ourselves. Extravagantly.
