The Gibbous phase is often a check in our movement toward the Full Moon, a time to pause and review. This Gibbous Moon in Sagittarius is different. It feels like a phase change. It’s been quiet. Now everything starts to move.

This Moon is in the middle of Sagittarius, our first clue the speed of life is picking up. She’s also out of bounds, charting her own path.
At the Gibbous phase, the Moon is sesquiquadrate to the Sun, a square and a half, a challenge. Both Sun and Moon link to aspects signaling change, in different ways.
The Sun in Leo, their exaltation, moves to conjunct expansive Jupiter. The Sun joins Jupiter’s opposition to Pluto, trine to Neptune, and sextile to Uranus, linking to the outer planet change agents.
The Moon separates from a trine to Saturn, who’s slowing down to station retrograde July 26. She opposes Mars in Gemini and squares Venus in Virgo, shifting the Venus–Mars square (exact July 29) into a T-square. An intense conversation.
The Moon sextiles Mercury who has just stationed direct in the Moon’s own sign. Mercury, still moving slowly, will move faster as they complete their final review of the zodiac degrees of this retrograde.
This is a very connected chart, with complex relationships. This too increases a sense of speed, because everything affects everything else.
Since the New Moon in Cancer, we’ve been in a ready-steady kind of place. Contemplative. Getting prepared. Waiting for the right moment. At this Gibbous phase, ready-steady shifts into whooooosh.
Check your birth chart to see which of these aspects links to your planets and points. That will tell you where and how this increase in movement will show up for you.
We are days away from heading toward an intense Full Moon in Aquarius. The aspects in this Gibbous chart will become exact.
The next New and Full Moons after this one are the August eclipses. We’re entering a time of personal and collective change that will unfold over the coming months.
Recent lunar phases–the New Moon, Crescent, and First Quarter–focused on preparation. We’ve been reflective and quiet as we made sure we had resources we needed. The Mercury retrograde has also slowed things down while adding intense emotion around Cancerian themes.
Now we’ll feel a shift. Life moves faster. The next weeks will feel intense. The review, contemplation, and rest we’ve had over the last weeks can help us get through, and get the most out of what’s ahead.
