Tuesday’s First Quarter finds us on stage, in position, in the moment before the curtain begins to rise, stage lights come up, and the show begins.
English doesn’t have a good word for this. “Stage fright” is paralyzing anxiety, not anticipation.
Germans say lampenfeiber, lamp fever, which is both longing and tension. The French theater says le trac, a state of heightened feeling and attention before the lights go up.
Here we are.
The Moon at the end of Libra squares the Sun at the end of Cancer. These two are in a T-square with the asteroid Eris at the end of Aries. Eris is a chaos goddess. She reminds us of the chaos of the world that threatens us all, a chaos we humans created. The luminaries connect to the needs of the world.
Jupiter and Pluto are powerfully opposed, in a T-square with Chiron, who squares each. Barbault’s basket, with Jupiter, Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune, is still in play.
Venus squares Mars. Mars sextiles Saturn. Mercury is stationing. In this complex and connected chart, we’re feel like we’re holding our breath.
This Moon needs to find her place. The end of Libra calls for exquisite balance, but we can’t sit still as the world swirls around us.
The Sun enters Leo July 22, in this First Quarter phase. The shift of solar power into their sign of exaltation aligns the Sun firmly with the Jupiter–Pluto opposition. The Sun remains here through the Full Moon.
Mercury stations direct July 23, also in this phase. In fact, Mercury has already reached the degree of their station. They’re barely moving, in position and ready to shift. What have we learned and felt during the retrograde?
The First Quarter is a time for action. As we enter, we’re as prepared as we’re gonna be, waiting for the curtain to rise. When it’s our time to act, we’ll know what to do.
