First Quarter Moon in Leo: Under Pressure

posted in: First Quarter Moon, Leo | 0

This First Quarter Moon in Leo will show the benefits of the flexible creativity available with the Crescent Moon in Gemini. This First Quarter moves through tricky territory.

In this phase, we act on goals set during the Crescent phase. The First Quarter is the opening square between the Sun and Moon, on the way to the Full Moon. With the Sun in early Taurus, we find the Moon in early Leo.

So far, so good. The square pushes us to get things done, with the strong, steady Fire of Leo energizing the strong Earth of Taurus. Yet we’re acting under difficult circumstances.

This First Quarter Moon is part of a T-Square with Pluto, who, from early Aquarius, opposes the Moon and squares the Sun. With Pluto in the mix, the stakes and the challenges get higher.

Pluto takes the long view. He checks that foundations are solid. He wants what we build to last.

The Moon separates from an out-of-sign sextile to Venus and Uranus, both poised at the end of Taurus. This connects the Moon to high volatility.

How can fixed Earth be volatile, you ask? At the end of Taurus, we face limitations. Our natural world is neither infinite nor eternal. Her ecosystems, water cycles, climate patterns are all carefully calibrated. The same is true for our bodies, also part of the natural world.

Uranus is always volatile, and Venus, despite ruling Taurus, is unsettled at the end of fixed Earth. Soon both will flip into Gemini, ready for all that out-of-the-box thinking the Moon was engaged in during the Crescent phase. Hold on to those creatively flexible ideas.

We may hit obstacles. Plan A might not work. Plan B might fall apart. This is where Gemini plans from the Crescent phase can shine. Gemini is the sign that says, if we can’t get in through the front door, what about the back? A window?

This Leo Moon also applies to trine Saturn, Mars, and Mercury, where she’ll pick up heat and energy. We’ll want a plan for where all that Fire should go.

This Moon is hands-on. The Crescent Moon’s only aspect was to the Sun. Now at the First Quarter, she’s the most connected planet in the chart. She’s taking action.

Pluto will insist on resolving core issues first. Once we have a solid base, it’s time to move, even if pressure is high.

Keep an eye on tempers––our own as well as others––there’s a lot of Fire around. Let’s forge new paths, not burn them down.

This Leo Moon has the capacity to get strong, creative work done.
