We’ve got the plan. We’re ready to move. In fact, this First Quarter Moon pushes hard against the Sun, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn to get moving. The Moon wants to go now, not tomorrow, not next week, NOW.

This Moon is conjunct the asteroid Ceres, which creates its own urgency. Ceres is the Roman name for the goddess Demeter. Ceres’ meaning relates directly to her story.
Like the Moon, Demeter is a loving mother who wants to nurture all that grows. In fact, Demeter was the goddess of spring who made everything bloom after the harsh winter.
Until her daughter Persephone disappeared. Then, when none of the gods or goddesses would help, she disappeared. Nothing grew for years, until Zeus finally sent Hermes to find her.
So the Moon and Ceres together in Aries don’t ask for speed alone. They’re on a mission, possibly a rescue, and everyone better take notice.
Mercury (Hermes) in late Sagittarius connects with Chiron the wounded healer in a tight trine. These two, also in Fire, support each other in journeys of healing and self discovery.
The sense of urgency we feel at this First Quarter relates to themes of rescue and healing. There are so many situations in the world today calling for both.
Meanwhile, the Sun, Venus, and Mars are together in early Capricorn. They’re building competence and confidence, but are not feeling ready to move.
Jupiter squares Chiron while forming a quincunx to Mercury: He’s ready and able to help with support and resources. If Mercury and Chiron are too impatient, they might miss his valuable assistance.
The First Quarter is a time to move. It’s when we learn new skills, test new strategies, and step into our journey to the Full Moon.
The challenge of this First Quarter will be to be still long enough to get well grounded, and accept help, even though our sense of urgency calls us to go right now.
